Supporting Sri Lankan doctors to work in UK
Between 2011 and 2015 JMFOA-UK is proud to have supported 28 post-graduate doctors in obtaining appropriate medical jobs, most paid, in the UK. Once in the UK we feel that it is our responsibilty to mentor and guide these doctors.
JMFOA-UK Non-clinical Professional Development Course for Registrars
In May 2015 JMFOA-UK members conducted the first Non-Clinical Professional Development Course for Registrars in Teaching Hospital, Jaffna. Using a mixture of interactive lectures, role play and small group discussion, the topics covered included Communication Skills, Leadership, Team-working, Mentoring, On-the-job Teaching and Training, Coping with stress, Time management, the Curriculum vitae, Interview Skills and Working Abroad. The course was well received, and we hope to conduct it annually. One participant said, “I’ve attended several workshops on different topics. But this is the best and most extensive workshop I’ve attended. Well done!! Keep up the good work.”
